Kazakh Wikipedia ranked 25th in the world

The number of entries in Kazakh Wikipedia has exceeded 200 thousand bringing the Kazakh language online encyclopedia to the 25th place among other Wikipedia pages, 24.kz reports. Kazakh Wikipedia project was launched in June 2011. Back then the number of Kazakh-language pages was nearing 7 thousand. Their number grew 20-fold in 1.5 years. The number of users increased significantly as well. Kazakh Wikipedia currently has 8 million views per month. Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund allocated 30 million tenge ($200 thousand) for development of Kazakh Wikipedia in 2011. According to Iport.kz, Kazakh Wikipedia was tagged the Global Wikipedia for the unprecedented surge of active users, and WikiBilim fund received the Jimmy Wales scholarship.
