Under the contract, Russian Helicopters will supply Mi-8AMT, Mi-171E and other serially produced models to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations in 2015. According to the company’s information, Kazakhstan’s helicopter operators expressed huge interest in the upcoming models – the Mi-171A2 and Mi-38.
Mi-171E model is one of MI-8/17 helicopter's modifications. Helicopters of this series are among the most efficient in the world for search and rescue operations. They are widely used in elimination of the aftermath of floods, earthquakes, disasters and forest fires.
Kazakhstan and Russian Helicopters cooperation has been successfully developing for several years.
For instance, in May 2012, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan received two new Ka-32A11BC coaxial multirole helicopters. In February 2013, the Border Service of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee purchased four MIT - 171SH helicopters through the Rosoboronexport, the sole state intermediary agency for Russia's exports and imports of defense-related products, technologies and services. In October, Russian Helicopters supplied Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs with a Mi-171E helicopter. Two Mi-26T heavy transport helicopters of Kazaviaspas emergency service have undergone extensive renovations in Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant, which is a part of Russian Helicopters holding. This year, a Mi-8AMT will be supplied to Almaty Akimat (city administration).
Russian Helicopters company put a wide range of its latest civil and military helicopters at KADEX-2014 international exhibition of arms and military equipment that was held in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana on May 22-25.
KADEX is a milestone event showcasing progress in military equipment and an opportunity to discuss collaboration prospects with foreign government agencies and defence companies.
The Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan, its KazSpetsExport national company and Kazakhstan Engineering national company are the organizers of the exhibition. And Astana-Expo KS is its sponsor. KADEX was previously held in 2010 and 2012.
This year the exhibition brought together 208 representatives of foreign companies and 54 official delegations from 28 countries. Besides, a total of $2.6 billion worth of contracts, memorandums and agreements was signed.
