“We broached th subject of terminals currently under construction on the Caspian shores. With the new Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran railway in place, Kazakhstan’s possibilities in terms of grain trade will be increased from the current 500 000 tons to 2.5 million tons. The rail link enables to transport up to 10 million tons of freight”, President Nazarbayev said following the talks.
According to him, through this railway link Iran “could tap into Russian and Chinese markets, whereas Kazakhstan will get an access to all the states of the Persian Gulf”.
