750km part of the international highway “West Europe-West China” is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2011, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Transport and Communications Berik Kamaliyev. “We are working on the road of 1,815 km at the territory of 4 oblasts,” the Minister said. According to him, the Ministry is planning to reconstruct the total of 2,415 km of the road. “Concrete works are performed from the border with China to Turkestan and asphalt-concrete works from Turkestan to the border with Russia,” Kamaliyev said. 35 thousand people and 6 thousand vehicles are involved in the construction effort. The total length of “West Europe – West China” motor corridor at the territory of Kazakhstan is 2,787 km. The road will cross 5 oblasts. The total cost of the project is 825 billion tenge ($5.6 billion).
