No general contractor has been selected for Astana's EXPO-2017 so far, Tengrinews report citing Talgat Yermegyayev, Chairman of the national company Astana EXPO-2017 that is dealing with the expo arrangements. "We have received very many applications and the final decision has not been made yet. Probably we will have several such contractors because it is impossible for one contractor to deal with everything. I think we will have three or four," he said at the briefing. Vicente Loscertales, General Secretary of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE), also participated in the briefing. He said that national elements had to be added to the architectural design of the EXPO venues. "The EXPO-2017 should bear a national identity. And there is a whole range of technical issues that we are working on. Everything what was in the registration dossier is being made or adjusted already," Loscertales said. Loscertales mentioned his meeting with Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Serik Akhmetov. "I told him that architectonical solutions needed several adjustments to make them compliant with the master plan," the BIE Secretary General of said. "Master plan is a very important part of any EXPO in terms of its content. Kazakhstan pavilion shouldn't be just a thematic venue. It should cover new energy sources, and at the same time reflect the country's culture, history and arts. We must give it a thorough consideration to make sure that it does not end up being just a thematic pavilion about energy. We are expecting some more discussions of the concept of the Kazakhstan pavilion," said Loscertales. By Baubek Konyrov
