According to Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov, another 10 facilities for children will be built by the end of 2011 under Kazakhstan President’s program called “Balapan”. “Today we have opened a kindergarten which costs 260 million tenge ($1.8 million). Besides, 19 kindergartens were built in the last three years,” Akim told journalists. “We are currently returning all kindergartens that have been rented out before. We have already returned 6 of them. This practice will be continued. Despite of the fact that private kindergartens are opening in Almaty (57 kindergartens for 3,000 children have been opened in the last 3 years), we still have a deficiency of them,” Yessimov said.
