Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has visited gold processing plant in Astana, Tengrinews reports. "The plant can produce refined precious metals in the shape of bank bullion bars (of standard and custom sizes of 50 grams and heavier) and pellets, accepted for circulation at the international market," the message of the press-service of Astana's Akimat (Municipal Authorities) says. The refinery aims to produce 25 tons of gold and 50 tons of silver totally worth 1.92 billion tenge ($12.5 million) per year. The plant worth $36.4 million was launched in late November 2013. According to the press-service, Tau Ken Altyn plant is one of the key projects of the Astana Industrial Park. The work on the project started in 2011 and in July 2012 Kazakhstan President nodded the start of construction of the plant. The plant creates 74 new jobs. All the pre-commissioning works and equipment adjustments have been completed and a first batch of bars has been produced by the plant.
