Reconstruction of Almaty-Kapshagai and Almaty-Khorgos roads will start in July 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications Roman Sklyar as saying to Vice-PM Bakytzhan Sagintayev during his trip to Almaty oblast. Almaty-Kapshagai road will have 6 lanes. 5 billion tenge ($33 million) will be allocated for its reconstruction. 37 land lots worth 1.4 billion tenge ($9.3 million) have been purchased for construction of the road and another 6 land lots will be purchased in the nearest time. The 304-km Almaty-Khorgos road will have 4 lanes. As for the cost of the reconstruction, it will total at 193.5 billion tenge ($1.3 billion). 670 land lots worth 4.1 billion tenge ($27.3 million) have been bought for the road's construction; 12 more land lots are to be purchased. Meanwhile, construction of the Big Almaty Ring Road will started in July 2014. The project costs 79.5 billion tenge ($530 million). Almaty oblast administration performed the evaluation works to define the cost of the land lots to be purchased for construction of the road. 690.6 hectares of land will be used. 669 land lots with the total area of 500 hectares will be purchased.
