Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s newly established Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has created a Telecommunications Committee within its structure.
The order approving the committee’s regulations was signed on October 22 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of AI and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev. The committee will oversee state policy in communications, ensuring the effective operation of the telecommunications and postal services market, as well as regulatory control within its area of competence.
However, the ministry later clarified that the body is not entirely new, but rather a restructured continuation of an existing department.
“The Telecommunications Committee previously operated within the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry. Following the reorganization, it remains part of our structure and continues to manage telecommunications and communications policy,” the ministry’s press service stated.
Earlier, in his State of the Nation Address on September 8, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called for the rapid adoption of the Digital Code and proposed establishing a dedicated Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development — a move now being implemented.
