Kazakhstan is going to buy transport assets in Europe and set up terminals in strategically important regions of Europe and China, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. President of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Askar Mamin said at the 7th business-forum called Strategic Partnership 1520 in Sochi that Kazakhstan adopted a concept for purchase of assets in other countries to remove infrastructure-related limitations from its transport flows. “We have to develop our policies to make the delivery period and transport costs attractive for partners. And we are working on creating this product. Chunxin-Duisburg container train covers 11 thousand km in 15 days and its average speed is 726 km per day,” head of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy said. The forum in Sochi looked into aligning conditions of the transportation activities in the Common Economic Space, creation of a unified system of management of rolling stock in CIS. Besides, the participants of the event discussed the way of strengthening the transit potential of the broad gauge (post soviet countries have wider railway gauge than European countries) taking into consideration the expansion of the regular container shipments, increase of the speed of cargoes delivery and creation of a simulating tariff environment. Kazakhstan contributes into development of the 1520 network. This year it is building a new near-border railroad section to China. Another new corridor runs via Kazakhstan to Iran and the Persian Gulf. Kazakhstan has already completed the construction of its 146km-long section. The railroad corridor is expected to start operating this year.
