Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE discussed investments into Abu Dhabi Plaza, a staggered matrix of buildings with a retail and leisure podium and a hotel cluster at the base that rises to form a series of office and residential towers to the north - creating a new landmark on Astana’s skyline, President Nazarbayev’s Press Service reported October 13. “During the talks the sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation. Notably, they dwelt on attracting investments into Abu Dhabi Plaza”, the statement reads. Signing of the agreement for construction of the complex was signed late March. Abu Dhabi Plaza is a major mixed-use development, comprising of a retail podium, integrated plaza, residential apartments, international grade office accommodation, and a hotel quarter. A railway is likely to link it to the international airport of Astana. The project was estimated at over $ 1 billion.
