Kazakhstan and China have introduced a new railroad border crossing Altynkol-Khorgos, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. The ceremony of opening of Altynkol-Khorgos railroad section at the border of the two countries was attended by head of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Askar Mamin and head of Urumqi railroad Tan Sheshen. Mamin noted that the commodities turnover between Kazakhstan and China reached a record number of $25 billion. The commodities turnover of Altynkol-Khorgos border crossing will make 10 million tons in 2015 and 15 million tons in 2020. Earlier Kazakhstan and China were connected by the only railroad border crossing via Dostyk station (Kazakhstan) and Alashankow (China). Over 156 million tons of freights have been transported since the beginning of its operation in 1991. Zhetygen-Altynkol railroad is 293km long. It has 5 station and 9 junctions, as well as 260 service facilities, engineering infrastructure and housing facilities. Introduction of the new railroad section will create 2,055 new jobs. The road is a part of the transport-logistics hub that is under construction in east Kazakhstan. The hub includes the International Near-Border Cooperation Center Khorgos, Land Port, Industrial Zone and Western Europe-Western China motor road.
