The heat power plant will be built in Semei to provide the city with heat and power, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Semei Akim (Mayor) Aibek Karimov as saying at the meeting with the citizens. “This year we will get investments for construction of the heat power plant,” the mayor stressed. “We have already found land in Vostochnyi village. Building the strategic facility there we would boost development of this region. But most important is that the plant will be producing energy and we will meet the increasing demand in our region.” According to Akim, Semei currently consumes 130 MW of energy; the new power plant will produce 200 MW. The government will support the construction process. It is known that German investors will bring this project to life. The parties have already signed the general memorandum in the end of last year. “They want to invest around 88 billion tenge ($594.6 million),” Karimov said.
