Foreign technologies to be used in construction of thermal power plant No.3 in Astana

Foreign technologies may be used in construction of the thermal power plant No.3 in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. The use of the technologies was discussed by heads of Central-Asian Power Corporation (CAPC) and management of the German energy company RWE Power in German Bergheim. CAPC top manager led by the company’s chairman Aleksander Klebanov were visiting Niederaussem coal power plant owned by RWE Power. The agreement was reached during a meeting to exchange experience in construction of ecology-friendly and highly-technological coal power plants. The new technologies can be used for construction of the thermal power plant No.3 in Astana, they says. RWE Power is the biggest energy company in RWE Group. It specializes in power generation in Germany and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The company uses different energy sources, including brown and bituminous coal, nuclear fuel, natural gas and renewable sources: water, wind and biomasses. The thermal plant in Niederaussem is the biggest coal power plant in Germany. It has 9 energy blocks with the total capacity of 3,680MW. Besides energy, the plant produces heat for the central heating system and technological steam for industrial companies. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English has reported that the first stage of the thermal power plant No.3 will be constructed in 2015. The final stage of the construction will be completed in 2018. The capacity of the thermal power plant No.3 will exceed 800 gigacalories/hour.
