Members of an expert council for development of mountain ski tourism in Almaty that includes heads of prestigious European resorts in French Alps (Courchevel) and Andorra (Grandvalira) are confident that development of the world-level resorts without any damage to nature is possible in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports. According to Claude Faure, President of Trois Vallees (Three Valleys) that operates ski tracks in Courchevel, achievement of set targets requires constant care about local nature and a strong political will that he could see in Kazakhstan. The expert explained that he was amazed by the beauty and magnificence of Almaty mountains. According to him, they are better than European mountains in some ways. He also expressed the confidence that the new resorts would be popular among European sportsmen, since Kazakhstan is located in a good position between the Old World and Asia. The experts, including head of the international network of mountain ski resorts Grandvalira Joan Viladomat, have promised to apply their experience in creation of Kok-Zhailau resort area near Almaty so that their Kazakhstan colleagues don't make the mistakes that had been made during development of European resorts. In 2012 Austrian Alpine Community representatives arrived to Almaty to discuss problems of mountain tourism in Almaty oblast and gave a number of helpful advises on regional mountain tourism development. The European community representatives visited Kazakhstan to evaluate Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains' tourism potential, share their experience of Alpine tourism development and give practical advice on organization of an all-year-round flow of tourists to the new near-Almaty resort.
