Almaty Akimat (city authorities) is planning to allocate more than 50 billion tenge ($337.8 million) for development of Almaty transport in 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vladimir Merenkov, head of Almaty Roads Department, as saying at press-conference that was held in City’s Akimat on November 28. The local budget will supply 12.6 billion tenge ($85.1 million) and the state treasury will cover the rest of the sum. Merenkov said that the Department planed to request extra-budgetary resources for development of big city roads. “There will be some changes. If we start construction of any other road interchanges, than we would request additional funds from the national budget.” Merenkov said. The authorities allocated 58 billion tenge ($391,9 million) for the development of transport in 2012. 13.3 billion tenge ($89.8 million) were allocated for development of Almaty subway and 27 billion tenge ($182.4 million) were allocated for construction of new road interchanges. Six road interchanges are under construction in Almaty at present. 14 kilometers of roads have been constructed and 224 kilometers of road surface have been mended in Almaty this year.
