3,500 km of roads will be repaired in Kazakhstan in 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Roads Commission of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications. In particular, construction and reconstruction of 888km of roads will be started, while medium and capital repairs are scheduled for 1,112km of roads. 2,000km of roads will start operating before the end of the construction season. “This year’s plan is to complete reconstruction of 806km of road of Western Europe-Western China international corridor. 220km of roads have already been constructed since the beginning of the year,” the Commission added. Reconstruction of roads Astana-Karaganda, Almaty-Kapshagai and Astana-Pavlodar will also start in 2013. The further plan is to build a road from Karaganda to Almaty with a bridge over Balkhash lake. The works are planned to be completed in 2019. “Besides, the Ministry is working on development of Astana-Kostanai-Chelyabinsk international corridor scheduled to be completed in 2014. The plan is also to repair the road from Kapshagai to Taldykorgan this year,” the Ministry wrote.
