Oxford choir has become popular after releasing an acapella cover version of Shakira's hits that then was tweeted by the Colombian singer herself, Tengrinews reports citing The Telegraph.

All-male a cappella vocal band Out of the Blue, made up of students from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University, made a cover of Shakira's Hips Don't LieWhenever Wherever and Waka Waka to raise funds for Helen & Douglas House, the world’s first children’s hospice, set up in 1982 in Oxford. Their target was £1,000, but they did not expected to be noticed by Shakira herself.

Shakira tweeted a link to the cover to her 26 million followers on July 23. "Hey @ootboxford, we LOVE you're a capella Shak medly! ¡Nos encanta este medley que han hecho @ootboxford," the singer wrote. Her tweet was retweeted over 2,000 times, and received over 2,000 favourites so far.

On the same day, Shakira posted the video on her Facebook page in English and Spanish. It attracted over 95,000 likes and was shared nearly 11,000 times.

The new charity single has already been viewed over 3 million times since it was posted on Youtube.

"We love singing so we thought it would be a good idea to release a charity single, with all proceeds going to them. It's not as if we need to spend any money on instruments or anything," one of the band's members said.

If you want to donate, you can do it here

It is not the first time Oxford boys do charity. Out of the Blue has performed in aid of various charities since its inception in 2000 on occasions such as Oxfam's Afghanaid Program (performance at Oxford Town Hall on 19 November 2001), Terrence Higgins Trust (performance at Christie's auction house on 18 February 2002). Out of the Blue has made donations to a number of charities, including the Maya Childcare Trust.
