A total lunar eclipse was seen at night of June 16, 2011 in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. It was the first lunar eclipse in 2011. This time the moon turned reddish instead of the usual brown, which is explained by the light from the Sun. The eclips lasted for 100 minutes which made it the longest since 2000. Partial solar eclipses are expected on July 1 and November 25, while the next total solar eclipse will happen only on November 13, 2012. It will be seen in North Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and southern parts of South America. Lunar eclipse in Rome, Italy. ©REUTERS/Tony Gentile
