Tengrinews.kz – The US dollar dropped below a key psychological barrier during trading on 4 December.
According to the daytime session results on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), the weighted average exchange rate reached 499.65 tenge, down 3.98 tenge from the previous session. This means the rate has fallen below the 500-tenge mark, a level widely viewed by the market as an important indicator.
The National Bank’s official exchange rate for 4 December stands at 503.89 tenge per dollar.
Data from kurs.kz shows the following average rates at exchange offices:
Almaty
• buying – 501.31 tenge
• selling – 503.94 tenge
Astana
• buying – 499.64 tenge
• selling – 506.64 tenge
On 28 November, the National Bank decided to keep the base rate unchanged at 18 percent. Following that decision, the dollar saw a sharp decline during trading sessions.
