Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber, Alikhan Smailov, to discuss the results of the chamber’s work in 2024 and its plans for the current year.
According to the report, the chamber conducted 27 audit activities across 214 entities last year, covering financial resources totaling approximately 11 trillion tenge. The audits revealed violations amounting to 862 billion tenge, with 135 billion tenge recovered to the state budget - five times more than in 2023.
The president was informed of systemic shortcomings in pricing for construction projects, financing of industrial processing initiatives, and agricultural subsidies. The Supreme Audit Chamber has issued recommendations to the government and directives to relevant state bodies to address these issues.
Alikhan Smailov announced that more than 40 audit activities are planned for 2025, including reviews of the budgets of Astana and Almaty, as well as North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Zhambyl regions. Additionally, audits will be conducted on the 'Samruk-Kazyna' fund, national companies Kazatomprom and KEGOC, the National Bank, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Furthermore, the audit scope will extend to sectors such as science, defense, law enforcement, sports, social security, and forestry. President Tokayev emphasized the importance of enhancing the state audit system and urged the adoption of modern digital solutions to ensure more effective oversight of budget expenditures.
