The Year of the Snake commemorative coin from the Oriental Calendar series
The National Bank of Kazakhstan has released commemorative gold and silver coins The Year of the Snake from its Oriental Calendar series, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the National Bank’s press-service. “The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced release of The Year of the Snake commemorative gold and silver proof quality coins with a nominal value of 500 tenge from the Oriental Calendar series. The Year of the Snake coins have the shape of a dodecahedron. Both gold and silver coins have identical images of the verso and obverse sides of the coins,” the press-release reads. Mythological symbols of star constellations are depicted in the central part of the obverse of the coin. The obverse has wide matted edging all round it. Solid plate with sigillate lettering 500 TENGE that stands for the nominal value of the coin, sigillate lettering Kazakhstan Respublikasi in Kazakh, Republic of Kazakhstan in English and semiabstract image of the Sun are depicted circumferentially on the edging. The Snake as an Oriental Calendar symbol of 2013 is depicted in the central part on the reverse of the coin. The reverse has wide matted edging. Solid plate with sigillate lettering 2013, sigillate lettering Shygys Kuntizbesi in Kazakh, Vostochny Kalendar in Russian and Oriental Calendar in English is written circumferentially on the coin. Other eleven symbols of the oriental calendar are depicted on the inner side of the matted edging.
