Kairat Kelimbetov has assured that spending of funds designated for the EXPO-2017 will be fully transparent, Tengrinews.kz reports citing deputy Prime-Minister as saying at the press-conference with participation of Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau Vicente Loscertales. “Holding of the EXPO-2017 will be fully transparent. We have some experience in hosting major events and we will be using the money in line with the rules,” Kairat Kelimbetov said answering the question on transparency of spending of the funds allocated for EXPO-2017. Earlier Kazakhstan Government was instructed to ensure transparency of financing of the EXPO-2017. Deputy Prime-Minister said that the exact budget of the EXPO-2017 would be known only in the end of 2013. “We are at the new stage of our work that involves preparation of the profile and careful planning of the regular report. When we defend this report this October, we will know the configuration of the EXPO-town and the investments required for development of this infrastructure and for Astana in general. You know, that the capital will be visited by 5 million people in 3 months. Not only Astana, but the whole Kazakhstan has to be ready to accept the guests,” Kairat Kelimbetov said. According to him, the website of EXPO-2017 will be re-designed in the nearest time. “We have a special website. I think that we will rebrand it in the nearest time. Astana is the first city of CIS countries to host such exhibition. This involves not only employment of the people who will work in EXPO-town, but it is a responsibility for all Kazakhstan citizens to show hospitality to the people arriving to our country. That’s why, in my view, every Kazakhstan citizen has to take part in holding the EXPO-2017. Of course, this will require highly qualified experts who will be involved in the work for the EXPO,” deputy Prime-Minister noted. According to him, a large-scale volunteer movement will be initiated to render support and meet the guests coming to Kazakhstan. “This is a big call to take part in the exhibition and suggest interesting ideas. We will run contests of student works and ideas. All the latest news will be publicized in the media and on the website of Astana EXPO-2017,” Kairat Kelimbetov added. He also said that EXPO-2017 national company is being established and its top management will be known shortly. He said that “preparation of the registration profile is currently the top priority in the commission’s work”. “We will hold the first meeting next Monday. We have a tight schedule. The project has to be ready in March. The final approval of our profile is scheduled for October. It will be followed by a big campaign on promotion of the exhibition around the world. This is a unique opportunity to give a new vision to our country and the exhibition. And this is a very good opportunity to motivate and be motivated for big changes in different areas,” Kairat Kelimbetov said. By Baubek Konyrov
