Contenders to host the Olympics 2022 are Almaty and Beijing. Presentation of the bids  of the two cities takes place on June 9 and 10 in Lausanne and the winner will be determined on July 31 at the IOC session in Kuala Lumpur.
The Chinese Olympic Committee granted the financial guarantees in January 2015.
The Organizing Committee managing the Olympics Bid of Almaty confirmed eight changes to its application, which will help save $550 million. Changes were made to both the Olympics 2022 and the Paralympics schedules after the visit of the IOC technical commission in Almaty.
Now, all the competitions in Alpine Skiing will be held in Almatau instead of Shymbulak skiing resort, while all the competitions in Freestyle and Snowboarding were moved from Tau Park to Ak-Bulak. This enables Kazakhstan to avoid costly repairs at Shymbulak and Tau Park.
The Paralympic competitions in Sledge Hockey will be transferred from the Olympic Ice Arena to the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty. Also, the mountain village will accommodate 350 athletes instead of the initially planned 1000.
