16.1 billion tenge ($107 million) will be allocated from the state budget for construction of 5 road junctions and laying of four streets in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagaliyev as saying at the meeting on development of the city.
The Minister reminded that besides construction of the junctions, the second phase of construction of Almaty subway was part pf the plan of the city’s transport infrastructure development. 10 billion tenge ($66.7 million) had been allocated for the construction. Zhumagaliyev also told about the work on the project of Big Almaty Ring Road. The feasibility study was being completed and construction of the road was scheduled to start in 2014.
Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Big Almaty Ring Road would be a toll road. It will cost 6-12 tenge ($0.04-0.08) per kilometer to drive along the Big Almaty Ring Road, depending on the car type. The road will be equipped with video and electronic recording system and the drivers will have to pay when they exit the road after the system calculates the total number of kilometers driven along the road.
