Tengrinews.kz - French President Emmanuel Macron has announced his intention to remain in office until 2027, despite political turmoil following the collapse of the government, according to The Guardian.

Macron ruled out the possibility of resignation and promised to appoint a new prime minister in the coming days.

"You have given me a democratic mandate of five years and I’ll carry it out fully until its term," Macron stated in a televised address to the French people.

Facing the most significant political crisis of his two presidential terms, Macron criticized what he described as the "cynicism," irresponsibility, and "sense of chaos" among opposition politicians.

A no-confidence vote on Wednesday, supported by a coalition of leftist parties and lawmakers from Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally, saw a clear majority of 331 lawmakers voting to oust the government. Macron accused Le Pen's party of "choosing disorder."

France, grappling with a growing budget deficit, risks ending the year without a 2025 budget or a stable government. However, the constitution allows for special measures to avoid a U.S.-style government shutdown.

The Elysee Palace is working to minimize perceptions of political chaos as Macron prepares to host world leaders, including U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, on Saturday at the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris following its devastating 2019 fire.

Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers are now calling for Macron’s resignation and pushing for early presidential elections.

A poll conducted by Odoxa Backbone Consulting for Le Figaro revealed that 52% of French citizens view the no-confidence vote as "a good thing."

Earlier, Emmanuel Macron accepted the resignation of the government following a no-confidence vote, according to an announcement by the Élysée Palace on social media platform X.
