Macron tasked Bayrou with forming a new government following a no-confidence vote that ousted his predecessor, Michel Barnier.

Last week, the French parliament passed a vote of no confidence against Barnier, with 331 out of 577 deputies voting in favor. This marked the first time since 1962 that a French government was dissolved via a parliamentary no-confidence vote. Barnier’s government lasted just 90 days, making it the shortest in the country’s history.
Macron vowed to remain president until the end of his term
The leftist party La France Insoumise, which initiated Barnier’s dismissal, has announced plans to propose another vote of no confidence against Bayrou’s government.
Who is Francois Bayrou?
Francois Rene Jean Lucien Bayrou is a seasoned French politician, writer, and now Prime Minister of France. He has previously served as Minister of Justice, Minister of Education, and leader of the Union for French Democracy. Bayrou was also a presidential candidate in 2002, 2007, and 2012.
In addition to his political career, Bayrou is an accomplished writer, known for several historical works, including a biography of King Henry IV of France.
