Tengrinews.kz – The Georgian Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into alleged fraud in the country's recent parliamentary elections, following a statement from the Central Election Commission (CEC) and media reports.

The investigation was launched based on claims from the CEC and various media outlets.

"According to statements from the CEC and information shared publicly via media, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is believed to possess evidence of possible fraud in the 2024 parliamentary elections," the statement said.

The Prosecutor's Office has summoned President Zourabichvili for questioning on October 31 as part of the investigation.

"The Georgian Prosecutor's Office will also conduct all necessary investigative and procedural actions cited by the CEC, examining the facts mentioned by President Zourabichvili, several political parties, and representatives of observer missions," the statement continued. "As part of the investigation, all individuals with potential information on the alleged criminal acts will be questioned".

The announcement follows recent protests in Georgia, where youth and opposition groups have demonstrated against the election results. On October 28, a large protest was held outside the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi.
