Tengrinews.kz – A video showing an aggressive fox confronting a woman at a gas station in the town of Zhitikara has gone viral online.
The footage captures a gas station employee running away from a fearless fox. The encounter ended badly — the animal bit the woman and then chased her as she tried to climb to safety. Even after she got onto a raised platform, the fox continued jumping and trying to attack again.
Social media users suggested the fox might be infected with rabies, noting an increase in reports of wild animals entering populated areas.
According to the Zhitikara District Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place at the end of October.
“The victim sought medical attention at the Zhitikara District Hospital for a preventive examination. Doctors provided all necessary assistance, including vaccination. Hospitalization was not required,” the office said in a statement.
Officials added that a special working group has been formed, including representatives from local authorities, the prosecutor’s office, police, veterinary services, and the hunting association.
So far, four reports have been filed by residents about wild animals appearing within town limits. Authorities urge citizens to take precautions, avoid contact with wildlife, and immediately report such incidents by calling 109.
