According to Sarsenbayev, these graceful birds come to Mangystau in search of food and a milder climate.

In autumn, flamingos in Mangystau can be seen at:
Karagiye (Karakia) - the lowest point in Kazakhstan.
“This salt lake, located in the Karagiye Depression, is one of the favorite habitats of flamingos. Here, you can observe flocks of birds gathering in shallow waters to feed,” wrote the blogger.
Tupkaragan Peninsula and Sarytas Bay
Here, the birds rest during migration.
Kenderli and the Caspian Coast
Flamingos can be spotted along the Caspian Sea coast, especially in secluded lagoons. Many flamingos gather here in autumn.
Lake Karakol, a warm, artificial lake created by MAEK.
“Flamingos choose this place due to the shallow saltwater bodies rich in food like small crustaceans and algae,” Sarsenbayev noted.
