November 2024: frost and warming
In November, there will be a mix of warm and cold days. Snow is expected across most of the country, while rain mixed with snow is possible in the south and southwest. Winds will be gusty, with potential snowstorms and ice.
In the northern, central, and eastern regions, the temperature at night may drop to -24 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures could reach -12 degrees. In the western and southern regions, the temperature at night will be around -15 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures near 0 degrees.
Precipitation in November is expected to be around normal for most of Kazakhstan, with above-normal amounts in the northwest and northeast (in the West Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions, northwest Atyrau and Aktobe regions, and the eastern parts of North Kazakhstan and Akmolinsk regions, as well as the extreme north of East Kazakhstan and Abai region). Below-normal precipitation is anticipated in the southern regions (in the southern half of the country and the extreme south of Karaganda and Ulytau regions).
Winter: frosts and above-normal precipitation
According to the forecast, winter temperatures in Kazakhstan will remain within the normal range, but the amount of precipitation will exceed long-term averages. In the northern, central, and eastern regions, abnormal frosts of up to -45 degrees Celsius are possible at night, while in the west and south, temperatures could drop to -35 degrees.

March 2025: return of winter
March will be a transitional month between winter and spring. Following warm days, frosts and snowfalls may return. Temperatures in March are projected to be above normal, with precipitation also expected to be higher than usual across much of the country.
Precipitation:
- In December and January, precipitation will exceed normal levels in most regions.
- In February, precipitation is also expected to surpass normal levels, particularly in the central and southern regions.
- March will bring snowfalls, especially to the northern and central regions.
