In the comments, social media users note that the author managed to catch rare shots.

"How beautiful," "What a fairy tale," "I dream of photographing them," "How gorgeous," people write in the comments.

Ksenia Gorlenko shared that she took the photos of the deer two weeks ago near the village of Vorobyovka. Ksenia is 47 years old and works as an accountant.

"I love photographing nature. In Borovoe, I had only seen deer in passing before, but this time we were lucky. We left the car on the highway and walked up the hill with the tower by Lake Katorkol. There was snow, silence, and beauty all around. Before reaching the hill, we encountered a couple of deer, and then a few more. They were calm, clearly feeling safe. We admired them from a distance, so as not to scare them. It's good that I always bring my camera, even though the lens is heavy. This time, it was worth it!" Kseniya shared.

The woman shared that she observed the deer for about ten minutes without getting too close.

"They quickly ignored us and moved behind the hill. I often take photos in Borovoe, mostly in the summer. I am a member of the ACBK (Kazakhstan Association for Biodiversity Conservation) and volunteer for bird counting in Astana. I would love to participate in a nature conservation project and take photos in Borovoe not just for myself," Kseniya added.

According to data from 2023, the Askanian deer is a special breed that originated from the crossing of the Crimean, Caucasian, and wapiti deer in the Askania-Nova natural reserve in Ukraine.

"From 1938 to 1972, a number of animals and birds were brought to Kazakhstan from other countries to enrich the wildlife. During those years, Askanian deer were also brought from Ukraine. Specifically, from 1963 to 1966, 58 deer were brought from the Azov-Syvash reserve, and in 1984, another 2 were brought from 'Askania-Nova.' Now, the region has 1,512 individuals," said the Burabay National Park.

It’s worth noting that the World Animal Day is celebrated on October 4. For the holiday, the Forestry and Wildlife Committee shared some discouraging statistical data. Kazakhstan is home to 835 species of vertebrates, including 178 mammals and 489 birds. However, the sad reality is that 132 species of vertebrates and 96 species of invertebrates are under threat of extinction.
