Tengrinews.kz – A Kazakhstani videographer captured Aygaykum in Altyn-Emel National Park as if it were scenes from a feature film: the majestic sand dunes on screen mesmerize with their beauty. The video has attracted the attention of media outlets and social networks.

The video

The footage was shot by Sergey Abramov. According to him, he has been filming with drones for about five years.

“I had already visited the dune before for filming movies and music videos, but this time I managed to get truly unique shots. To capture the sunrise, we set out at night. These shots were taken on July 23. Filming took place in July – not the easiest time for such hot places: during the day, the temperature felt like it reached +50°C, so we could only work at sunrise. But the weather was calm, without wind,” he said.

A special drone

To shoot the landscapes, Sergey used a custom-built drone. His modified Chimera7 kept only the original frame, while he upgraded everything else himself.

“By education, I’m an engineer – that’s my element. I’ve been filming with such drones for five years now, and I have many different ones. This large drone is designed specifically for filming nature: it can fly very fast and very far, which regular store-bought drones can’t do,” Sergey told us.

The Singing Dune

The 150-meter-high, 3-kilometer-long sand dune is unique not only for its size but also for its sounds. As noted on the national park’s website, the “Singing Dune” is a mountain of pure quartz sand without vegetation and with a steep slope. When dry sand moves, grains rub against each other, creating a prolonged, loud sound similar to low singing. That is why the dune is called “Singing.” This natural wonder attracts tourists and creates a special atmosphere.
