Tengrinews.kz – A Chinese travel blogger, Tao Mingsu (known online as @taotaoaima), has gone viral after posting a breathtaking video from Bozzhyra Plateau in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region.

The short clip, captioned “In beautiful Aktau, Kazakhstan,” shows the influencer posing with a golden eagle against the backdrop of Bozzhyra’s striking white cliffs. The video has already garnered more than 200,000 views. Tao boasts over 2.8 million followers on Instagram.

Social media users flooded the comments with admiration, comparing the Kazakh landscape to scenes from another planet.

“The beauty is unreal,” “I want to visit Kazakhstan at least once in my life,” “Such a beautiful place — Kazakhstan, a country in Central Asia known for its vast steppes, nomadic culture, and modern capital Astana,” and “So far away... is this Mars?”

Growing fascination with Kazakhstan

Tao’s profile shows she has visited several regions of Kazakhstan, including Almaty and Astana. In many videos, she appears in traditional Kazakh attire, rides horses, and poses with birds of prey — showcasing her long-standing fascination with nomadic culture and traditions.

According to Kazakh Tourism, tourist arrivals from China to Kazakhstan surged nearly ninefold in 2024 compared to pre-pandemic 2019. Last year alone, over 650,000 Chinese tourists visited the country, spending around 307 million tenge, almost double the previous year. Demand for flights from China to Kazakhstan rose by 86 percent within a year.

Earlier, the official Instagram account also spotlighted Kazakhstan by sharing a video captioned “Playing in the fields of Kazakhstan.” Created by Kazakh videographer Dastan Mukhametrakhim, the clip amassed more than 36.5 million views and 37,800 comments from users around the world. The platform’s main account has over 696 million followers.
