Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh traveler Eldar captured unusual footage of marals (Cervus elaphus) in the mountains of Almaty Region using a drone.
According to Eldar, the video was shot on September 29. He set out to the mountains early in the morning to capture the animals during peak activity, filming them within the Ile-Alatau National Park.
“At 5 a.m., we went to film them. They are currently in their rutting season, so the best chance to spot them is early in the morning or after sunset,” Eldar said.
He added that while marals are easier to observe during the rut, he does not disclose the exact location of the footage.
“I prefer not to reveal the precise location, as poachers hunt these animals here. Unfortunately, they are often killed for trophy photos. That’s why protecting them is so important,” Eldar emphasized.
The videographer also highlighted that marals are among the most beautiful animals in nature, with their majestic antlers, speed, and graceful movements captivating any wildlife enthusiast.
According to the Ile-Alatau National Park, more than 600 marals inhabit the protected area. Although not listed in the Red Book, the species is under state protection.
