Tengrinews.kz - A moose was spotted by a camera trap in the Naurzum Nature Reserve in Kostanay region, capturing the animal’s cautious behavior as it surveyed its surroundings.
The footage, shared on the reserve’s Instagram account, shows a fully grown male moose, easily identifiable by its large build and branching antlers. While moose are not listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book, they are protected under national law.

Officials at the reserve noted that moose initially react cautiously to camera traps but gradually become accustomed to them. Hunting, disturbing the animals, or interfering with their natural habitat is strictly prohibited within the reserve. Typically, moose avoid humans, but during severe frost or snowstorms, they may venture closer to the edges of populated areas.
