Tourists from one of the local resorts noticed the half-dead fish on the shore. They tried to return the fish back into the sea, but it determinedly returned back to the shore. The reasons behind this unusual behaviour are unclear. Lada wrote that such behavior is occurs among marine mammals but it defiantly not common for mullet.
One of the tourists dived not far from the beach and saw “mullet coming towards the shore half-dead”. This extremely cautious fish was it such a state that it could be caught with bare hands without any equipment.
In May, Eco Mangystau, a non-governmental agency, reported a mass fish die-off in the Caspian sea, in Karazhanbas region, 214 km away from Aktau.
