Tengrinews.kz – During a spring expedition in the Ustyurt Nature Reserve, scientists came across a rare green inhabitant.

From April 18 to 21, senior researcher A. Pulatov discovered a relic plant – Crambe edentula – in the Ustyurt Reserve. This green endemic of the Turan province is listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book and is extremely rare.

The plant blooms in April–May, reproduces by seeds, and bears fruit by June. Its presence confirms that the Ustyurt ecosystem still preserves unique biodiversity.

The reserve notes that this finding is of great scientific and ecological importance. Inspectors are now continuing to monitor the area to study the plant’s habitat and ensure its protection.
