Astana to face more snow as heavy rain expected in Almaty

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet forecasters have released the weather outlook for Astana and Almaty for February 19–21.

Weather forecast for Astana

February 19: Partly cloudy with snow overnight and in the morning, along with drifting snow. Icy conditions are expected on the roads. Northeastern winds at 9–14 m/s. Temperatures will range from -12°C to -14°C at night and -10°C to -12°C during the day.

February 20: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Easterly to southeasterly winds at 9–14 m/s, with daytime gusts reaching 15–20 m/s. Temperatures will drop to -20°C to -22°C at night and rise to -10°C to -12°C during the day.

February 21: Partly cloudy with occasional snow and ground blizzards. Winds shifting from southeast to northeast at 9–14 m/s, gusting up to 15–20 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will be -10°C to -12°C, and daytime temperatures -7°C to -9°C.

Weather forecast for Almaty

February 19: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Light fog at night. Winds shifting from southeast to southwest at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures will range from +3°C to +5°C at night and +15°C to +17°C during the day.

February 20: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Northwestern winds at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures will range from +2°C to +4°C at night and +12°C to +14°C during the day.

February 21: Partly cloudy with rain expected in the morning and afternoon. Westerly winds at 3–8 m/s, with gusts up to 12 m/s during the day. Temperatures will range from +2°C to +4°C at night and +7°C to +9°C during the day.

Cold snap and snowfall across Kazakhstan

Earlier, forecasters warned that cold air masses moving across southern Kazakhstan will bring heavy precipitation in the coming days. Strong winds, icy conditions and a significant drop in temperatures are also expected.
