Apple trees from Kazakhstan were planted in Manhattan
50 apple trees (Málus siéversii) from Kazakhstan were planted in Randall Island that is a part of Manhattan, New York on December 7, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Express K.Nick Barnett, representative of U.S. mission to the United Nations called this campaign a unique way of demonstrating friendship between Kazakhstan and the U.S. “This project is one of the best tool to raise awareness about the life in Kazakhstan,” Akan Rakhmetullin, Kazakhstan resident representative in the UN said. Americans, attending the campaign asked Rakhmetullin to explain what misbeliefs New-Yorkers could foster about Kazakhstan. “Have you seen Borat film? This is one misbelief,” Kazakhstan representative said.
