More than 36 thousand of green plantings were planted in Almaty last year, Tengrinews.kz reports. The Head of Department of Natural Resources and Wildlife Management of Almaty Altai Rakhimbetov said about this at the Maslikhat (local representative authorities) meeting. 24 571 trees and bushes were planted at the expense of the local budget. Additional nine thousand trees were planted to compensate those cut during various construction and repair works. 4,9 thousand of the new trees were planted at Medeu area that was badly damage by last years heavy storms. Department of Wildlife Management gave a permission to cut 18 166 troublesome trees during 11 months of 2011. Responsibility to plant additional 27 276 trees to compensate the cutting was undertaken. Permissions to cut 2 226 trees were issued in the first quarter of 2012, 3 405 – necessary cutting, 1 717 – sanitary cutting, 183 - form trimming cutting, 892 - replanting. The compensational responsibility for these trees amounted to 12 441 trees. This year's first spring planting was held on March 17, more than 400 trees were planted.
