Tengrinews.kz - The principal, homeroom teacher, and other staff members of the school resigned following the incident where a student sprayed pepper spray in the educational institution.
The incident occurred on September 23 in one of the schools in the regional center. According to the regional police department, a student sprayed pepper spray during a break, four schoolchildren were injured.
"The principal, two deputy directors for educational work, as well as the homeroom teacher of Secondary School No. 253, where the pepper spray incident occurred on September 23, resigned voluntarily," the city education department's press service told Tengrinews.kz.
The mother of one of the injured girls, Bakhyt Bektybai, commented on the incident. She stated that her daughter had been bullied by classmates, and one of the boys sprayed her in the face with the pepper spray.
"In social networks, my daughter was called a "pick-me," which upset her greatly. I went to the school principal, who summoned two deputy principals and ordered to remove the post, but it was not done. Later, the homeroom teacher assured me that the situation would be addressed. On September 23, two classmates cornered my daughter on the stairs and threatened to continue humiliating her, after which one of the boys sprayed pepper spray in her face. My daughter coughed and tried to go downstairs, at which point the second pupil sprayed her again," said the mother of the injured schoolgirl.

"On September 23, we received four teenagers complaining of headaches, dizziness, and shortness of breath. They were hospitalized with a diagnosis of "poisoning with an unknown substance." Two of them remained under observation after treatment and were later discharged. The others were in moderate condition and were transferred to a different department. Treatment usually lasts about five days," reported Raushan Baizhanova, head of the hospital's emergency department.
Police noted that the materials related to this incident will be sent to the juvenile affairs commission for review. The parents of the injured teenagers intend to file a complaint with higher authorities to ensure that those responsible are punished.
