Oil pipeline TON-2 (Taimys-Omsk-Novosibirsk) has been successfully repaired in North-Kazakhstan oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the Ministry, repair works were completed on September 15 at 12:30 p.m. Astana time. Currently “the spilled oil is being collected and pumped to the special tank.” “As of 6:00 p.m., 470 cubic meters of oil were collected, 340 cubic meters of them were pumped back into the pipeline,” the Ministry said. Elimination of the accident involves 29 people and 18 vehicles of eastern branch of KazTransOil, and 4 people and 1 vehicle of Emergency Situations Department of North-Kazakhstan oblast. The 720 mm diameter oil pipeline ruptured on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. 3km from Petropavlovsk during excavation works done by Kvarts company to lay a fiber-optic line. The breakage caused an oil spill with an area of 1,000 sq.m and spilled volume of 200 cub.m. No casualties were reported.
