A goanna has been caught in the yard of a private house in Samal region of Shymkent city in the south of Kazakhstan, Tengrines.kz reports. The house’s owners say that the exotic lizard was spitting and threatening to attack and did not let anyone come close, that’s why they had to call the rescue team. The personnel of the Emergency Situations Department discovered the goanna under a pile of construction garbage. The rescuers had to through a loop onto the animal and pull it out into the open. The whole operation took less than 10 minutes. The intruder was taken to the terrarium of Shymken zoo. The rescuers suspected that the goanna was brought to Shymkent by a fan of exotic animals and it either ran away or its master got tired of taking care of it and released it. This was the first time the personnel of Shymkent Emergency Situations Department had to deal with such an exotic animal. Before they only dealt with snakes in apartments.
