Kazakhstan Deputy Prime-Minister Krymbek Kusherbayev arrived in Zhambyl oblast to personally control the works on elimination of the consequences of the storm in the region, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Prime-Minister's press-service. "The government commission arrived in Taraz on January 13. Kusherbayev held the first meeting of the state commission in the airport and gave several instructions on restoration of vital service systems for the victims from villages of Talas and Saryssu regions of the oblast. Upon completion of the meeting Vice-PM left for Karatau and Zhanatas," the message states. Representatives of different ministries also arrived at the accident site. According to Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry, the situation in Zhambyl oblast has been taken under control. Wi-Fi network has been established at the site. Additional 200 people and 17 vehicles of the military base 28237 of Kazakhstan Emergency Situation Ministry, as well as 13 people and 6 vehicles of the military base 68303 were sent to the area to set up communications. According to the press-service, all the emergency measures are currently being taken for restoration of electricity, heat and water supply in the villages. Heavy vehicles have been sent to Karatau to clean the snow. Special crews have been formed from employees of the emergency situations department and power companies. Fuel has been supplied, as well as water and hot food for residents of Karatau and Zhanatas, as well as food for the teams working on elimination of the emergency situation who arrived from Taraz city. Experts of KazNIISSA and fuel and power companies are evaluating the condition of the equipment and buildings of Igilik boiler house. A plan of restoration works is being developed. On January 12 bad weather caused an emergency blackout in Saryssu, Zhualyn and Talas regions of Zhambyl oblast. The blackout than caused a suspension of the central boiler house of Karatau at 07:15 a.m. Then at 08:15 a.m. its 60m-long concrete chimney collapsed into the area of the 5th (reserve) and 6th (main) water-heating boilers.
