Karaganda residential region Bessoba may be demolished completely, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Karaganda administration. One of the buildings of Bessoba region collapsed on April 6, 2012. Karaganda Akim (Mayor) Bauyrzhan Abdishev said at the briefing on the results of investigation into the building's collapse that other buildings of the residential complex were inspected as well. The results showed that all of them were built with technological violations and are in emergency condition. That’s why the enforcement measures - very costly for the budget - might fail to yield any positive result. The suggestion was made to temporarily resettle the people, demolish the poorly made apartment buildings and build new good-quality housing in this area. “We will discuss at the government level the construction of the new region instead of these buildings. The new buildings will be erected in compliance with all the requirements,” the Akim said. The mayor also noted that several violations of the legislation were made by the officials and accountable persons involved in construction, inspection and putting into service of the building. “I have to say that the group of violators is quite large. Two criminal cases have been initiated: one against the constructors and the second against the design company. Another criminal case might be initiated against the officials who were controlling the construction process,” Abdishev said. According to him, over 20 people are suspected under two criminal cases. According to Emergency Situations Department, the residents should not be scared to live in the buildings for a year or more. The experts are constantly monitoring the buildings’ condition and there has been no negative dynamics so far. However, the department notes that it is better not to risk. New buildings will have the apartments of the same elite class and metric area. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that the results of investigation of reasons that caused the 5-storey building to collapse in Bessoba residential complex of Karaganda were unveiled on May 15. “Development of unacceptable foundation settlement caused by soil swelling” was tagged the main reason behind the collapse. 5-story residential building No.7 of Bessoba residential complex, constructed 3 years ago as an equity construction project, collapsed in the morning of April 6. http://tengrinews.kz/kazakhstan_news/214084/
