Investigation over Challenger-200 crash near Almaty may take over 1 year

It may take over a year to investigate causes of the Challenger-200 crash near Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications Beken Seidakhmetov. “The investigation is still underway and the results have not been submitted yet. There are no deadlines. The accident was very serious. Investigations of such accidents normally take a year or more,” Seidakhmetov said. On January 29 one of the Bombardier airplane owned by Scat airline crashed 7km from Almaty airport during its second attempt to land. According to the prosecutors, the plane was performing a Kokshetau-Almaty flight. The accident claimed lives of 5 crew members and 16 passengers including a 2-year-old boy. By Altynai Zhumzhumina
