An accident has happened at ArcelorMittal Temirtau metallurgical plant, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Prime-Minister. A reinforced concrete chimney was damaged at HU-1 coke production facilities on June 26. The 90m pipe with of 11 meters in diameter is used for removal of combustion gases from the oven of the coke battery No.5 was partially damaged. The direct coke gas pipeline of 2,000mm diameter was damaged causing inflammation of the coke gas. A conveyor gallery of the coal-preparing shop was damaged as well. The accident caused a suspension of the blast-furnace, agglomeration and milling facilities. No casualties were reported. A special commission was formed in Karaganda oblast to investigate causes of the accident. Results of the check will be announced in 10 days, the press-service of Karaganda oblast administration said. Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev arrived to the accident site upon an instruction of the Prime-Minister Akhmetov. Issekeshev posted on his page in Facebook that a four-stage action plan was made. Four coke batteries will be launched within a day. The works on implementation of the plan have already started and will be performed round-the-clock. The company will move on to the next stage by July 20. By Assemgul Kassenova
