Tengrinews.kz - Sixteen people have been hospitalized with suspected anthrax in the Uyghur district of Almaty region, eleven of them were diagnosed. This was reported by the press service of the regional akimat.

No infection was found in four of the hospitalized individuals, and the tests for one more patient are still being clarified, according to the akimat.

Several cases of anthrax have been registered in the Uyghur district of Almaty region. In response, the regional akim (governor) has instructed to isolate the epidemiological outbreak, enhance sanitary and epidemiological measures, and conduct explanatory work with the population.

"Currently, there is no observed spread of the disease, and the situation is under control. We urge residents of the region to remain vigilant: purchase meat and meat products only from verified sources and follow precautions when handling livestock," said Almat Turysbekuly, head of the Almaty region health department.

It is important to remember that anthrax is not transmitted from person to person.

Previously, we reported that a quarantine was introduced in the village of Ulken Aksu in Almaty region due to anthrax.

The akimat reported that the epidemiological outbreak in the village has been isolated. "All necessary measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the infection," stated the Almaty region akimat.

A veterinary epidemic control team from the Ministry of Agriculture has been deployed to the settlement for containment measures, including disinfection. The necessary staff and specialized equipment are available.
