The Universiade 2017 volunteers will be trained by foreigners in Kazakhstan, Ilya Urazakov, director of Executive Management of Almaty Universiade 2017 state-run fund, told Tengrinews. According to him, the executive fund launches the program in 2014. The program involves bringing in foreign experts to teach Kazakhstan volunteers before the Universiade 2017. Besides, volunteers’ offices will be opened in all Kazakhstan cities to attract young people to the event. The requirements are very simple; volunteers should be young, active and speak some English. There will be a page for filing electronic applications on the website of the Winter Universaide 2017 soon. Training volunteers isn't something we will be leaving for 2015-2016. It starts now," Urazakov said. According to him, 15-25 thousand visitors are expected in Almaty for the large scale sports event; 3.5 or 4 thousand of them are athletes. We need about 7 or 8 thousand volunteers for the Almaty Universiade. According to the head of the Student Sports Federation of Kazakhstan Kairat Zakiryanov, Kazakhstan's athletes are planning to be in the TOP 10 by medal count at the tournament. Besides, Kazakhstan is planned to increase the amount of prize money that its athletes get for winning medals by 2017. On November 29, 2011 the University Sport Federation (FISU) officially declared Almaty the host city of the Winter Univerisade-2017. The 28th Winter Universiade-2017 will be held for 11 days from January 29 to February 8, 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Construction of new facilities for the sport event will start in January 2014. Ice Palace for 12 000 seats in Alatau region, Ice Arena for 3 000 seats and Athletic Village for 5 000 people in Medeu region are going to be constructed. It is also planned to reconstruct 20-25% of the roads in the city, modify the structure of the airport and railway stations, and launch ecologically friendly public transport. By Vladimir Prokopenko
